This lifestyle engagement session with Kendra and Ross ranks as a top favorite, without a doubt. They invited us into their Iowa City home for a few portraits and then, the highlight of our evening, they made us pizza! Well, okay, they made themselves pizza and graciously shared it with us. We love taking lifestyle family portraits (letting kids act like kids and capturing the fun of everyday life)…so naturally we were very excited to apply this same approach to an engagement session. Keep scrolling and you’ll see why!Ross’ beloved Michigan University hat had to make an appearance.We knew ahead of time that Ross wasn’t a fan of posed portraits. He and Kendra asked us if we could do something a bit more candid and true to life: “Think Pete Souza.” So, we came up with the idea of a nice low-key engagement session at their home, essentially capturing them in their natural habitat.Kendra and Ross put a lot of work into their deck and backyard…it was so appropriate for us to get a few pictures of them here! Although some of these portraits are ever-so-slightly posed, Ross told us afterwards, “I didn’t hate that as much as I thought I would.”After a few pictures outside, we got to the main event: dinner. A cozy night in making pizza together is a regular occurrence for these two.We loved their sweet and spicy toppings of choices…jalapeños and honey!Cheers!Catching Kendra dusting the flour off Ross’ face had us “aww”-ing so hard.
