Jeanette & Nick | Wedding | Terry Trueblood, Iowa City, IAWednesday, July 17, 2019Posted in CTW Weddings, Weddings Jeanette and Nick’s summer wedding took place at Terry Trueblood Recreational Area. From start to finish, this was such a perfect day. Photographing these lovebirds in front of fields of flowers was completely dreamy. One of our favorite things: Jeanette handcrafted the bouquets, cake topper and other meaningful details. So much love, thoughtfulness and creativity went into this wedding! This was such a sweet first look moment, letting the couple slow down to enjoy each other before the excitement of their wedding day began. We asked Jeanette what she admires most about Nick. “It’s a toss up between admiring Nick’s supportiveness and his sense of humor. He helps me feel safe, comforted, and taken care of, all while being able to put a smile on my face. Even when we argue, half the time, he can make me laugh.” We asked Nick what he admires most about Jeanette: “I admire Jeanette’s strength of character. She knows who she is, what she wants, and how she wants to be treated. As someone who always qualified ‘character’ as high on his list of desired attributes, she consistently reminds of my priorities and what’s most important in life. Even though she’s not an optimist (or at least to the degree that I am), her inner goodness affirms my belief in the common good. And her eyes.” Jeanette told us the amazingly sweet story of how Nick proposed: “Nick has a history of pulling surprise date nights. I had a rough morning, but after I left for work he put a card and a box on the bed. When I got home, I opened the box and saw a dress I pointed out a few weeks prior. The card said where and when to meet him for dinner downtown. I met him at Basta and we went for a walk around campus afterwards. We walked by the brick arches at the Old Art Building, went inside, and Nick reflected on our relationship and proposed! I’ve always loved the arches since starting college at UI. I made cast sculptures of them my senior year, and they are Nick’s favorite piece of art that I’ve made. They have hung in our bedroom since we moved in together three years ago.” Lovely little details. The beading on Jeanette’s veil came from her grandmother’s veil. Does it get any dreamier than this? We were treated to a bright blue sky and puffy clouds; in other words, a perfect summer day. “Hang on, guys…we need a minute.” The adorable cat silhouette cake topper was one of our favorite details, designed and created by the talented bride. Time to cut into that lovely little cake! “My life is better ’cause I get to do it with you.” Jeanette and Nick, congratulations! You are such a wonderful couple and your wedding was such a unique, beautiful representation of you.
