Laura and Scott are dear friends and some of my favorite clients. My love of photographing them has only increased as the size of their family has increased! I was overjoyed to document the intimate moments of their daughter Silia’s birth.

Truly, what an honor to be invited into this moment for my dear friend. I’ve had the privilege of capturing so many big beautiful milestone moments for them through the years.

It was unbelievably touching to witness Scott and Laura bonding with their brand new daughter.

I LOVE the rawness and pureness of these moments. Childbirth is beautiful…it’s also intense, emotional, miraculous and unpredictable. I would love to be able to offer birth photography on a regular basis; unfortunately the need to be on-call for parents-to-be makes it not feasible for me. For parents who have an “awesome if it works out and okay if it doesn’t” sort of attitude, you can certainly reach out to me! But when babies are calling the shots, I just can’t guarantee I will be able to make it to a birth.

I just so happen to know an amazing Cedar Rapids based photographer who does specialize in birth photography as well as posed newborn photography. Rebekah joins us as an associate photographer for weddings and we just love her! Head over to her website to see her wonderful work.

For Laura and Scott, we had an “awesome that it worked out” kind of scenario. The morning of June 25th, I got a text from Laura that her water broke. Fortunately for us, Miss Silia timed her arrival to coincide perfectly with my lunch break!
