Patrick | Senior Portraits | Iowa City, IA

We met Patrick for his senior portraits on a gorgeous evening in September. It was a pretty hot day (is it September or July?!), but the lighting and all the late summer colors were so perfect! Between all the locations we stopped at, we got a great mix of greenery and cool architectural details. Keep scrolling to see the highlights!

We started out at Hickory Hill Park. Patrick’s family crashed the first 10 minutes of the session for a few family pictures. Such a fun group! We took their family portraits back in 2014 and cannot believe how much these guys have grown since then!

It didn’t take us long to realize that Patrick is basically an expert at the “smile with your eyes” serious face. He absolutely rocked his senior portraits!

If you’ve taken a walk through Hickory Hill Park in Iowa City, you know that it’s pretty darn big. We drove from one side to another to get to this bridge that we love. How pretty is that end-of-day light?!

After exploring Hickory Hill, we made our way to the University of Iowa campus. The Art Building has some beautiful spots and very cool architectural details.

When Patrick’s mom Kathy told us that she had her senior pictures taken outside the Art Building, we just HAD to recreate at least one of the poses. Thus, the leaning-up-against-a-tree pose! We don’t have Kathy’s senior picture to do a side-by-side comparison, but she said that we nailed the recreation.

Finally, we finished up the evening with a few pictures on the bridge over the Iowa River. We can’t get enough of that golden light coming through the trees.
