It was such a joy to capture Kara and Susie’s wedding day! These lovely brides got married at Kara’s parents’ home on a gorgeous fall day. Following their ceremony, they spent time with friends at a favorite spot and then continued the celebration at North Ridge Pavilion in North Liberty. Keep scrolling to see all the highlights!

Almost time! We love the anticipation leading up to the first look.

For their first look, Kara chose to surprise Susie with her wedding dress. This moment was just perfect.

So much happiness!

When we asked Susie what she admires most about Kara, she responded, “I can’t narrow that down to just one thing: I love the way she loves me, how she loves our children and her tenacity to be better everyday and always working on improving our lives!”

When we asked Kara what she admires most about Susie, she responded, “Her heart- she is a pediatric ER nurse and gives her all to her patients and then comes home and continues giving her all to our family. I’ve never met someone with a bigger heart- sounds cliche but so true. She is the most supportive of all of my endeavors. Just truly a love so pure and genuine.”

The way these two look at each other just melts our hearts! So much love.

When it was time for the ceremony, Susie’s father walked her down the aisle.

Next came Tavaris (plus one!) as ring bearer and Kara and Susie’s daughter Sophie as flower girl. Sophie did an amazing job of showering the pathway with petals!

The brides each wrote their own vows.

As a special unity ceremony, Kara and Susie sealed a bottle of wine to be opened and enjoyed on their 10th wedding anniversary.

Having their son bring them their wedding rings made this such an emotional moment.

Time to celebrate!

After the ceremony, Kara and Susie took a group of friends to Local Pour Street Food for drinks.

This was such a fun group!

Next, the wedding reception took place at North Ridge Pavilion in North Liberty.

Time to cut the cake!

We absolutely love the rainbow layers of Kara and Susie’s wedding cake! So perfect.

The father/daughter dances were especially sweet.

Kara and Susie’s first dance was full of magic moments.
