What to do when your engagement session is happening on a chilly December day? Find an adorable coffee shop! We were SO on board with meeting Rachel and Eric at Sidekick Coffee & Books in Downtown Iowa City for their engagement portraits. We started things off with a few sweet moments just outside before getting to the good stuff (by “the good stuff,” we mean coffee).

We really love photographing engagement sessions. We get to spend some time with couples before the big day and they have a chance to get used to us, too. While we are always incredibly excited to capture all the beautiful, emotional moments of a wedding day, there is also something really special about capturing the “everyday cuteness” moments like these. It makes us so happy when couples want to make their engagement portraits very much about them, including favorite spots and meaningful rituals (like drinking coffee together).
